How many accessories are needed to install artificial grass?

Anyone who has purchased artificial grass for their property knows that it is an investment that requires proper equipment. It's a low-maintenance solution that doesn't require weekly mowing and watering like a real lawn, but it's important to make sure your artificial turf comes with extra features to keep it looking and feeling its best. Here, the UDINE GRASS team will delve into the list of artificial turf accessories any owner should have in their arsenal, such as adhesives, seam tape, and more. Some of these are critical to ensuring a smooth installation, while others will come in handy in the weeks, months and years after laying. Jointing Tape When artificial grass is laid in the garden (or wherever it is being installed), jointing tape (sometimes called joining tape) is necessary for the installation. Jointing tape is laid under the turf where the seams of two rolls meet. This is to make sure that the rolls of artificial grass flow neatly together and don't ruin the aesthetics of the lawn. Without jointing tape, there is a risk that seams will be visible, taking away from the natural appearance that even the highest quality synthetic grass offers. This can be a vital accessory that is easily missed by DIY fitters. There is little more annoying than thinking you have done a job well done, only to find mismatched joins that simply look messy. As well as from an aesthetic point of view, having mismatch seams that are not joined together is a safety hazard, with the potential for trips and falls. Our installation team will always ensure that every artificial lawn we fit is installed to the highest quality before the completion of the project. Jointing Adhesive As with joint tape, the adhesive is just as important. The adhesive is used with artificial grass seam tape to create a smooth seam that will last for years. Using an incorrect, low-quality adhesive can compromise the overall quality of your new artificial turf, possibly causing seams to come off the tape. When in use, the person responsible for the installation must ensure that the two rolls of artificial grass flow in the same direction before being installed. Once the adhesive dries, it can be problematic to remove the fake grass from the tape and reapply without damaging the material. When it comes to artificial turf, precision is key if you want to achieve the best results. Geotextile Weed Membrane Another extra feature worth incorporating into the installation is a geotextile weed membrane, which will help stop annoying weeds from piercing through artificial surfaces. While the presence of the subbase and artificial turf itself certainly won't do any good to the underlying weeds, it's not the ultimate solution to nuisance growth. That's why we highly recommend weed film to everyone to ensure their low maintenance lawn stays put and you don't have to spend hours and money spraying herbicides to keep your garden in top shape. The weed membrane sits beneath the artificial grass surface on the ground being laid and acts as a barrier against unwanted growth. In addition to preventing unsightly weeds from piercing the artificial turf, the membrane retains excellent drainage properties, and during wet and cold months it will allow for effective removal by heavy rain, reducing the risk of water standing on the lawn. Shock Pad Shock pads are useful in environments where artificial grass is installed where children may play on the ground, such as children living in gardens in homes and playgrounds. This provides extra protection against falls, and as any parent or guardian knows all too well, falls are often unavoidable. If there is no shock pad installed under the artificial turf, there will be a real soft feeling when walking on a real field or lawn, then the chance of injury will increase. Hosepipe It is likely that if your property has/had a real grass lawn, you will already have a hosepipe that was used to water the grass area. If you do not have one, then consider investing in a hosepipe as this will help to clean your synthetic turf – especially if you have any pets that are likely to do their business on it.You won’t have to constantly water your artificial lawn in the same way as you would with real grass; having a hosepipe to hand will help on the occasions where cleaning up after animals and/or any spillages is needed. The last thing you want are smelly odours ruining your pristine lawn. Broom, Brush or Plastic Rake The final key accessory for any perfect artificial turf is a broom, brush or plastic rake. These are the best tools for lifting artificial grass stacks after artificial grass has been used. It is best to brush the lawn in the direction of laying for the best results with minimal effort. A broom is also a quick, easy way to remove debris from your lawn and to lift up trash piles. If you have a lot of leaves around your lawn, a leaf blower can also be a great investment for you! What is the best thickness for artificial grass?

What is pile height? Pile height is the length of the blade, measured from the backing to the tip. It is expressed in millimeters (mm) and ranges from less than 10 millimeters to over 50 millimeters. For lawns and gardens, stake heights between 25mm and 40mm are most common.Finding the right pile height for your project depends on the intended use. How many people do you expect to walk? For example, contact sports such as football or rugby require artificial grass solutions that are different from untrained home lawns. Aesthetics can also be a game changer: what should your artificial grass look like? Some people prefer short, neat grass, while others want long, lush artificial grass. Pile height: 20 mm or less When there are pets and children around, most people opt for a lower pile height. It makes cleaning easier, so you can prevent your dog or cat from going to war with your garden — and win. Short artificial grass also looks neater. That's why decorative designs can be found in such piles of high schools. Last but not least, certain sports, such as padel and tennis, are subject to strict infrastructure rules that require short grass. Pile height: between 20 mm and 30 mm The longer the grass, the more realistic your artificial landscape project will look. On the other hand, longer lawns or patios make removing dirt or leaves slightly time-consuming. If you want to combine the best of both worlds, 20mm to 30mm is your pile height. Your lawn looks like it's just been mowed, and with the right bulk density, it should be resilient enough to handle a lot of foot traffic. Pile height: between 30 mm and 40 mm This length is ideal if you want perfect realism. Also, it will increase the softness of artificial grass. Kids will love playing on it while enjoying the tickling of the blades of grass between their toes. No wonder 30mm pile heights are preferred for most professional landscaping projects. Thanks to technological advancements, this slightly longer artificial grass remains resilient all year round. Pile height: 40 mm or more For those who like artificial grass that looks lush, luxurious and even a little wild, tall blades will do the trick. Especially if you're expecting limited foot traffic, this stack height can be very eye-catching. However, even with higher pedestrian traffic, long artificial grass should not be ruled out. Choose a product with the best performance and the right amount of filling and your blade will be very resilient.

How to get rid of weeds from artificial grass?

There are a few different ways to kill weeds in artificial grass, the easiest way is to use boiling water. You may also want to use vinegar to make natural pesticides. If you're looking for a longer-lasting solution, you can install a weed mat underneath the artificial grass. Let's take a look at some of the best ways to kill weeds in artificial grass. Install A Weed Barrier This is the best way. The best way to permanently stop weeds from growing in artificial grass is to professionally install a weed barrier underneath the artificial grass. A weed barrier is a grid that covers the ground and stops weeds from growing through artificial grass. Boiling Water You can kill weeds by boiling them in boiling water. If you pour boiling water over the weeds, it will kill them without damaging the artificial grass. Boiling water will cause the weeds to wilt and die, and you can then pull them up and dispose of them after a few hours. Some weeds do have deeper root systems, and you may find that you need to pour boiling water over them a few times so you can pull the weeds out of the grass. Use A Vinegar Spray If you want to make your own natural and non-toxic weed spray, you can use vinegar. Add a solution of white vinegar and water to a spray bottle. You may also want to add some washing up liquid or some vodka, as these ingredients will help kill weeds. The solution can then be sprayed onto weeds and killed without resorting to harsh chemicals. If the weeds are not dead after the first treatment, you may need to re-spray the weeds within a few days. Then you will be able to pull the weeds out of the artificial grass.White vinegar is non-toxic and doesn't harm the environment, so you can use pure white vinegar to saturate weeds. Apple cider vinegar can also kill weeds. Sprinkle Salt On The Weed Sprinkle table salt over any weeds growing through artificial grass. Salt can be used to dehydrate weeds and kill them. Salt is also a great way to prevent future weed growth, as it will soak into the ground under the artificial grass, making the soil too salty for salt to grow. If you plan to remove artificial grass in the future, do not use salt, as it will be difficult to get the grass to grow again.Be careful if you sprinkle salt near concrete or paving stones, as it can cause some materials to corrode. Don't go in areas where water runoff can carry it to lawns or flower beds, as the salt can eventually damage other plants. Use Herbicides If you need a stronger choice, you may want to use commercial herbicides to remove weeds that are difficult to kill. Herbasia is a fast and simple method that can get rid of weeds on artificial grass. If you don't want to buy herbicides, ammonia water can kill weeds. It is particularly effective to resist crab grass, poison, ivy and dandelion. Pull Weeds By Hand You may need to pull out weeds at the edges of artificial grass by hand. Grab the weeds at the roots of the plants and pull them up. Try pulling out the roots too. You may need to use a screwdriver to gently lift the edge of the artificial turf. Weeds that grow on the edges of synthetic grass usually do not have their roots embedded in the material, making them easier to remove. You can also use a crab grass removal tool. How to remove stubborn stains from artificial grass?

Do you currently have artificial grass on your property? Maybe you're thinking about installing fake turf in your home? Then, you need to know how to properly maintain your artificial grass to ensure it performs well in the long term and looks its best. While fake grass requires far less maintenance than live lawns, it does require regular cleaning. If you're not sure about the best way to clean artificial turf, read on for helpful tips you need to know. 1. Proper cleaning frequency of artificial grass First, you must make sure to clean the fake grass on a regular schedule. If your turf is heavily trafficked and used a lot, it's a good idea to clean it once a week to reduce the buildup of dust, dirt and debris. If you allow your pet to poop on artificial turf, you will need to clean it more frequently to keep your lawn hygienic. However, if your turf is more of a cosmetic unit and you're not seeing a lot of traffic, you might be able to do weekly or monthly cleaning sessions. 2. Remove dust, dirt and yard debris If your artificial grass doesn't have much traffic, you can just use a garden hose to remove accumulated dirt and debris. Simply spray your turf lightly with clean, cool water and let it air dry. It's also a good idea to sweep the grass with a lawn rake or hard broom, which will help keep the blades of grass in an upright position. 3. Remove minor stains Artificial grass is designed to live, so if you accidentally spill drinks, food, or other substances on your fake turf, it's no big deal. Removing light stains from artificial turf is very easy - just blot whatever spills dry and wet the area with a hose. Once the grass is wet, apply mild soap, scrub gently, and rinse thoroughly with cold water. 4. Stubborn stain removal Artificial grass is largely stain-resistant, so even if your turf develops a stubborn-looking stain, you shouldn't have a hard time removing the residue. Here's what you need to do to clean up stubborn stains on fake grass:● Wet the area with a garden hose.● Apply a mild cleanser and use a bristle brush to gently remove stains from the grass.● Rinse off the cleaner with a garden hose.● If the stain doesn't respond to mild cleaners, you'll need to use a more durable cleaner, such as ammonia. If that doesn't work, try mineral spirits and make sure to rinse off the cleanser thoroughly after you're done. 5. Remove sticky residue from fake grass If sap, gum, or any other sticky material gets stuck on artificial turf, cleaning up the sticky residue is very simple. Just wet the area with a garden hose, then use a mild cleaner or a 50-50 white vinegar and water mixture to dissolve the residue. Gently scrub the sod with a bristle brush, and when you're done, rinse off the cleaner with a garden hose. 6. Clean up pet litter on artificial turf If you have pets freed from your fake grass, cleaning up is simple. Wait for any solid waste to dry completely, then continue with the following steps:● Pick up litter using a shovel, bag, or whatever you would normally use to pick up pet litter on live lawns.● Rinse the area thoroughly with a garden hose. Avoid using a pressure washer as it can damage the lawn.● Spray all areas where your pet relaxes weekly. You can use standard household cleaners to do the job.● Use a stiff brush to gently scrub the sod.● Rinse off the cleaner with a garden hose.● Use an odor neutralizer to remove any remaining odors.● Let the turf air dry. Will artificial grass fade or stain?

Artificial grass has many advantages. It's easy to see why homeowners, commercial property owners and even municipalities have made the switch. But fake grass is a synthetic product, so you might wonder if it will stain or fade. Our UDINE TURF products will not tarnish green or degrade over time. They also don't get dirty. In fact, we've tried sprinkling everything we can think of on our artificial grass products and we haven't had a stain. UV stabilizer to prevent fading Prolonged exposure to the sun's UV rays can cause discoloration in many products, both natural and synthetic. To prevent this from happening, most artificial grasses have UV stabilizers built into the material before the blades are made. UV stabilizers are part of the product, not something that can be washed off or worn away. Even so, artificial grass does experience very slight fadingOver time - typically less than 8% color loss in 10 years. Modern chemistry can also prevent stains The artificial substrate that forms artificial grass is strong and durable in many ways. In addition to being fade resistant, it won't rip or tear. It's also specially formulated to resist stains, as the grass won't absorb anything spilled on it. You can help your grass look its best Synthetic turf is formulated and constructed to last for years without fading or staining. But there are steps you can take to take full advantage of these benefits:● Read and follow the manufacturer's recommendations(Click here for advice) for proper maintenance. Fake grass doesn't need much, but a few simple tasks will keep your lawn looking its best.● In prolonged dry weather, hose down the lawn occasionally to prevent dust and dirt build-up. (Conserving water is always important. If drought conditions recur, you can either forgo rinsing the grass, or reduce the number of rinses.)● Remove fallen leaves, branches, and other natural or man-made debris (including any pet deposits) as soon as possible to reduce the chance that something will damage the grass. Pick up larger pieces by hand and use a leaf blower to remove light material.● If you've added lawn ornaments to your landscaping, move them around regularly. This will help the blade and underlying substrate not get squashed or damaged.● Over the years, time and weather can cause artificial grass to break down slightly. To help keep your lawn stain-free, manufacturers offer anti-fouling products that can be used on your lawn. Never say Never As we've pointed out, the manufacturers of most artificial grass products incorporate specific chemicals and compounds into the turf matrix to provide maximum protection against fading and stains. Still, no matter how careful you are, there are a few things that can damage your artificial grass. For example, battery acid and other aggressive chemicals can damage anything they come in contact with. Additionally, certain petroleum-based chemicals and compounds can damage your synthetic turf—including blades and underlying fabrics. At the end of the day, a good rule of thumb is that if something will stain or damage your clothing, it will stain the fabric of the artificial grass. So it's best to keep these products away from your artificial turf. Now that you know that artificial grass is extremely unlikely to fade or stain, we're guessing you may have other details, you can contact us and we'll answer all your questions.

What's the material of our artificial grass? Are they safe?

Is artificial turf safe for your children and pets? Whether you're a parent or a pet owner, safety is almost always a top priority. At UDINE TURF, we value your safety and the safety of those around you. After all, our mission is to provide the best landscaping solutions, which is impossible without considering safety precautions! The first thing most people ask themselves when they see artificial turf is… "Is artificial turf safe for my children and pets?"The simple answer is yes. However, many people wonder how safe it is. To understand this, we first need to take a deep dive into the composition of artificial turf. What is artificial grass made of? Most artificial turf is made of polyethylene. It is a plastic used to make children's toys, grocery bags and most commonly plastic household products. Polypropylene is also in the mix. This is usually used for plastic utensils and microwave containers. Nylon is also used for heat resistance. Are the typical constituent materials of artificial grass dangerous? No.Artificial grass is made from the same type of plastic as regular household products. We are exposed to these materials on a daily basis and have not been shown to have harmful effects. If you think about it, turf is really just plastic. Not having the extra harmful ingredients used to make it puts your safety at risk. What is artificial turf made of? Artificial turf consists of three main parts:1. Backing material for supporting individual blades of artificial grass2. The plastic blade itself.3. The filler, those tiny black chips, help support the blade. ". What makes them harmful? In his article for the Washington Post, Shalat noted, "Various pigments are used to provide the green color of the blade. These can include lead or titanium for the white line, as well as other metals for on-field school logos. Those little black crumbs were the problem. Tires can be toxic. "At UDINE TURF, we professionally test all our products to ensure they are 100% lead and latex free. All the test certificates on our website can also prove this. That's why even if customers choose not to buy from us, we always tell them to make sure anyone they buy has done the proper testing to ensure they're buying a safe turf product. Is artificial turf safe for children? Of course! Rubber crumbs made from ground recycled tires are the main culprit in making artificial grass unsafe. These properties have given artificial grass notoriety. Good news: padding is optional. In addition, it has natural alternatives such as crushed stone, 100% EPDM granules. Recently, turf manufacturers have generally stopped using artificial turf with toxic lead content. We will discuss these in more depth in later paragraphs. Now it is important that you know that artificial grass blades are generally safe for your children. You can definitely use artificial turf at home without rubber chips endangering your life. However, there are some low-quality lawn grasses out there. We don't know what they're made of, and we can't vouch for them. If you want to keep your kids safe, choose a manufacturer that prides itself on being non-toxic and lead-free. If you're not sure, you can always ask them for a test certificate!Fortunately, some brands go beyond the general rules. By providing non-toxic, lead-free, non-toxic artificial grass, UDINE TURF keeps not only your children and pets safe, but you too. We employ an unbiased professional testing company to conduct a variety of tests on our turf, including lead, UV, permeability, and more, to ensure our customers know they're getting the best product possible. Complete transparency is key, which is why you can find all our test certificates on our website. At UDINE TURF, we stand behind our products, that's why we offer free samples with a full 5 year warranty. Is artificial turf safe for pets? Our furry isn't all that different from our babies, is it? They are both whiny poo machines that are constantly craving food and attention. But we all love them equally. If we could give them everything, we would. We wonder if an investment as big as artificial turf won't do them any harm. Hopefully they can benefit from it as much as we do.A key issue when it comes to lawn pet safety is lead. With so many options to choose from these days, many customers fall into the trap of choosing cheap turf suppliers and shady materials. Some turf suppliers use hazardous materials in their turf to keep prices low, which can be scary for your pet's safety. Does artificial turf cause cancer? Research shows there is no conclusive evidence linking fake grass to cancer. However, there is a correlation between tire rubber debris and cancer risk. That's why we never recommend using rubber infill on artificial turf. Natural fillers such as sand and stone are not only more aesthetically pleasing, but also safer. Are there synthetic grasses on the market that are completely safe for you and your family? Why yes, of course! You can remove the shredded rubber filler. You can forgo unnecessary risks. Use natural 100% EPDM particles! What is the best artificial grass for kids and pets? UDINE TURF offers non-toxic and lead-free products! Plus, it's also eco-friendly! We do not provide rubber crumbs as filler; we use sand and stones, which are both natural and already in the environment! If you are interested in our fillers, please feel free to request a sample! How to install artificial grass?

01. Weeding Time to remove the lawn that has frustrated you so much over the years! Water bills, brown spots, lawn mowing and mud; say goodbye to all that! Artificial grass liquidators recommend removing 4 inches of existing lawn or base. Remember, the earth does add up quickly. We recommend installing a dump trailer on site. Make sure you take the appropriate steps to properly dispose of the existing base. Check your local city's website for the information you need to properly dispose of your soil. Seems like a lot of work? UDINE TURF can equip you with the right equipment and tools to ensure your project is done correctly. 02. Prepare the base Evenly spread 4 inches of Class 2 road base (or similar). A level 2 road foundation will make it easy to create a level platform with proper drainage. AGL does recommend using a weed barrier to prevent vegetation from growing, and you can also install gopher wire if applicable. Lightly wet the area and sand it with a compactor until you get a smooth finish. 03. Laying the turf Introducing new artificial grass. Be careful not to drag the sod across the newly prepared base. It is best to let the turf sit in the sun for 30 minutes to an hour before installation to allow it to swell. If you are using multiple rolls, it is important that the blade orientation and stitch pattern face the same direction. Cross blade orientation will result in poor appearance. Carefully nudge the artificial grass and move it into place. Wear knee pads to protect knees and calves when operating lawns. A rug kicker will come in handy to stretch and maneuver the turf. 04. Cut to fit Now that your sod is in the desired area, it's time to make a proper cut. The best cutting equipment is a razor and a carpet cutter. All cuts should be made from the back of the synthetic grass so you can see the rows of stitches. This will help with finishing touches at the end of the project when cutting to leave 1/4" to 1/2" of sod around the edges of your boarders. If you are working with multiple sheets of synthetic grass, this is the perfect time to secure the seams with AGL seam tape and turf glue. Make sure the blades of the sod are in the same direction when stitching, and that the space between each row of stitches matches to ensure the best visual effect. Place the red line of the AGL seam tape just below the center of the seam and make an "S" pattern with glue on the seam tape. Move the sod into place and let the glue set for 15 minutes. Once the seam is brushed up, it goes away. Place the fill bag evenly over the seam to enhance contact with the seam tape. 05. Security Boundaries It's time to anchor your artificial grass to the ground. Start by tucking the 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch edge you left into the border with a metal putty knife and hammer. We recommend using AGL 40-D 5'' non-galvanized sod nails or staples. Tap the nail or staple lightly with a hammer until it pierces the backing. Use your fingers to spread the turf blade and drive the nails or staples into the ground. Nails or staples should be placed every 6 inches along the outer perimeter and every 2 feet in the interior area. Be sure to reinforce the seam area with some nails or staples. Before filling, be sure to brush the sod with an electric broom or push broom. This will make the blade memory vertical. 06. Fill with sand or rubber particles Meeting the proper infill requirements for the turf system you purchase is extremely important to the appearance, performance and longevity of your artificial grass. Please consult your UDIEN TURF product specialist for filling requirements. Many different types of suitable fillers can be used. Options include: acrylic coated sand, zeolite, silica sand or rubber chips. We recommend using a dripper to spread the right amount of filling evenly. 07. Brush the grass After placing the fill, use an electric broom or other stiff-bristle broom to brush the sod. This will help the turf blades stand upright and make your new artificial turf look like freshly mowed grass. Repeat this process until your filling is evenly brushed in and your seams are gone. If you have pets, in addition to proper sanitation, the only quarterly maintenance UDINE TURF recommends is cleaning your turf blades. 08. Enjoy your new site! Enjoy your newly installed UDINE TURF!
